Are your beans suitable for an automatic espresso machine?
Yes, our beans are suitable for use in automatic espresso machines. We roast most of our beans to a medium level, which produces a flavor profile that is well-suited for espresso. This roast level is ideal for automatic machines as it ensures a consistent, even extraction and avoids over-extraction or burnt flavors that can occur with darker roasts.
It is worth noting that darker roasts, which lead to oily beans, are not suitable for entry-level coffee machines and grinders. The oils from darker roasts can clog the machine and grinder, leading to maintenance issues and a poorer tasting cup of coffee. We recommend sticking to a medium roast level, which will produce a clean and consistent espresso shot without causing any issues for your equipment.
If you have any questions or concerns about using our beans in your automatic espresso machine, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to provide guidance and advice to help you achieve the perfect cup of coffee.
Do you sell pre-ground coffee as well?
All our coffees are shipped as "whole beans" to ensure they don't stale as fast as pre-ground coffee. However, we understand that some may not have the proper grinder at home and would prefer pre-ground. If that's the case, please leave a note with your order and we will be happy to help.
How long should you wait before drinking freshly roasted beans?
It's generally recommended to wait 1 to 2 days after roasting before brewing and drinking freshly roasted coffee. During the roasting process, gases are trapped inside the beans, and they need time to degas before they can be brewed. If you brew coffee with freshly roasted beans, you may notice that the coffee tastes overly acidic and has a sour flavor.
After the degassing period, the coffee is at its freshest and will produce the best flavor. However, the ideal degassing period can vary depending on the coffee's roast level, bean origin, and brewing method. As a general rule of thumb, lighter roasts may require a longer degassing period than darker roasts.
At our roastery, we roast and ship our beans within 24-48 hours to ensure that they arrive at your door as fresh as possible. We recommend waiting 1 to 2 days after receiving your beans before brewing them to get the most out of their flavor.
